Amazing April

We finally got the official word: Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibit

will take place for 2021!

All the participating artists are from South Carolina and we are so excited to be back in

Marion Square in Charleston.

The exhibition will run from

Friday, May 28 through Saturday, June 11, 2021.

We will be there every day from 10-5 Sundays thru Thursdays,

until 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

We are hoping that you will come out to the park and support all of the marvelous artists by viewing and buying local art.

With the upcoming exhibition in mind, paintings have been flowing out my fingers.

These new pieces will be there for sale.

Sketching on the plastic cover of my canvas is becoming a habit. I really like the convenience. Once the sketch is done the canvas can be toned. Transferring the sketch is an easy way to stay in the creative mode.

Darks

Adding the darks comes next. Shapes and depth of color help to create the feeling of solid forms. My coffee pot is very important to me, along with my sweetener and powdered creamer. Welcome to my morning.

This piece is meant to be a pairing with the two paintings finished last month.

Similar colors, theme and of course the long shadows, can create a nice grouping.

This has been an interesting process. The intention is to make it similar, and coordinating, but how much is enough and how much is too much the same?

Hopefully the essence comes through. It is great fun to play with the shadows and painting is about the fun!

Softening some edges, defining some shapes and putting the finishing touches on this makes me smile.
